Boot sequence: questionable but glorious

About
the trip

TRIPATRON is a browser-based light synth made for music, projectors, laptops, living rooms, daft experiments and the occasional “is that supposed to be a llama?” moment.

It is not trying to be sensible. It is trying to make sound look like it escaped from an arcade carpet in 1987.

A nod to the old masters

This is made with affection for the wonderfully unhinged lineage of computer visuals: neon grids, demo-scene weirdness, rave flyers, VJ toys, and the joyful mutant spirit associated with Jeff Minter-style psychedelic playfulness.

Winamp-era inspiration

Some visualiser ideas and vibes are inspired by the Winamp / MilkDrop era — when music players felt like tiny portals and your desktop could suddenly become a cosmic aquarium having a funny turn.

Just for fun

TRIPATRON is not a serious instrument for serious people wearing serious trousers. It is a playful browser toy for turning sound into colour, movement, trails, pixels, tunnels and occasional tasteful nonsense.

Friendly disclaimer: TRIPATRON is an independent hobby/fun project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or pretending to be Jeff Minter, Llamasoft, Winamp, Nullsoft, MilkDrop, or projectM. It simply takes inspiration from that broad culture of music visualisers, psychedelic arcade energy, and llama-flavoured digital joy.
